FFBD Won't Proceed With League and FA Cup

Bandar Seri Begawan - In light of the recent football development and the lifting of suspension of Brunei Darussalam's membership in FIFA, the Football Federation of Brunei Darussalam (FFBD) Executive Committee yesterday has issued a statement.

According to the statement, FFBD welcomes the return of Brunei Darussalam to FIFA that will now enable our national and club teams to play in FIFA/AFC-sanctioned regional as well as international football tournaments.

The FFBD joins all football stakeholders in the country in rejoicing and congratulating those that have worked tirelessly to bring us back from isolation, in particular His Royal Highness Prince Haji Sufri Bolkiah, the President of Brunei Darussalam National Olympic Committee, for his leadership in successfully ending our suspension from international football.

The FFBD also welcomes the establishment of the National Football Association of Brunei Darussalam (NFABD) which is now the recognised national body to represent Brunei Darussalam in FIFA and expresses its best wishes to the newly appointed members of NFABD's Executive Committee in their efforts to bring development and success to the country's football.

On the NFABD's press statement published in the local press on the 10th June 2011 regarding the running of the current DST Group Brunei Premier League 2011, the FFBD has decided on the following points:

The FFBD is consulting all its sponsors and stakeholders of the possibility of not continuing with the League.

This decision is made in view of the difficult if not impossible timeframe set for the FFBD to complete the League and related FA Cup competitions for which there are a total of 71 matches remaining (i.e. 48 and 23 matches respectively) in only 46 days. The FFBD is not prepared to undertake a football programme knowing it could not be completed on time.

Furthermore, out of its consideration of NFABD's obligations as per FIFA Article 13 (as mentioned in the NFABD's press statement) and bearing in mind other constraints and possible disruptions such as field availability, inclement weather and a limited number of match officials, the FFBD has decided in principle not to proceed with the remaining League and FA Cup programmes.

Given this decision, the FFBD will be taking legal steps to dissolve itself as soon as possible.

The FFBD wishes to take this opportunity to thank His Majesty's Government through the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, DST Group of Companies, Brunei LNG and many others for their generous sponsorship and support to keep football going in the country during the last two years. The FFBD also wishes to thank-all its member affiliates for their support and participation.

It is only with the support of all these agencies and people that the FFBD was able successfully to put together nearly 800 competitive matches, start for the very first time grassroots National Under-10, Under-12, Under-14 and Under-16 leagues in the country, and keep football going during the two and half years it was in charge.

It is time to bid goodbye, and in so doing, the FFBD Executive Committee urges all football stakeholders in the country to work together in greater unity and purpose to bring the development of football to greater heights.

MD NUR Ikhmal Awg Damit struck two minutes from time to snatch a well deserved 1-1 draw for Brunei Youth Team (BYT) against DST Group Brunei Premier League II leaders Kilanas FC yesterday.

Denying Kilanas the chance to extend their lead at the top of the table, the striker tapped in from close range after the ever-reliable Kilanas' goalkeeper Abdul Hafiz Ahmad botched a save.

Looking his usual dangerous self all afternoon long, BYT captain Md Azwan Ali Rahman sent in a low cross that caught the entire Kilanas rear-guard napping.

Abdul Hafiz boxed the ball out but only to the feet of Md Nur Ikhmal, who fired home to give BYT a share of the points at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium in Berakas.

Instantly running together to celebrate as a group, it was obvious how much the draw which maintained their unbeaten run in the league along with Kilanas meant to BYT.

The side made up of Under-18 players continue to trail Kilanas by two points but Hj Md Rosanan Abdullah Samak was more than encouraged by their performance.

"The boys played well but they just didn't take their chances," said the BYT coach, who saw Md Azwan's first-half penalty saved by Abdul Hafiz.

"As long as they work hard I'm happy, and it was some good football by both sides," added the ex-national player.

Kilanas coach Sidik Eya was surprisingly pleased with the stalemate and felt his men did well to withstand a late offensive salvo by BYT which has been grooming players for the national team since last year.

"They used a 3-5-2 formation in the end and we had to defend," said Sidik.

"I didn't really see the goal but I'm happy with the draw," added the coach, who went on to pick out his goalkeeper for special praise.

Ak Azwandy Pg Hj Othman opened the scoring in the 22nd minute with an exquisitely taken goal, cutting in from the left and nutmegging his defender before unleashing a curler to the right.

BYT almost equalised five minutes later when Abdul Al-Wardy Abdul Hamid sent in a cross to the left. It was expertly headed back across the face of goal by Md Azwan but Abdul Al-Wardy's header produced a fine save point-blank save by Abdul Hafiz.

The shotstopper would continue to enjoy adulations after diving to his right to keep out Md Azwan's penalty in the 40th minute when Md Nazirul Zulhilmi Hj Annuar handled the ball in the area.

Minutes later BYT's Md Safwan Amaluddin beat Izzul Wazzien Osman with a strong run into the box only to see his shot scamper wide of the left post.

It was a much more open game in the second half, with the best chance falling to Syazwan Azizi Hj Md Taib, who evaded defender Md Nur Azees Awang Ali but not Md Ashanudin Hj Md Dani in between the BYT goal who was earning a rare start ahead of Ron Junior Philip.

Md Aminuddin Zakwan Tahir forced Abdul Hafiz to tip the ball over the bar for a corner 15 minutes into the half and Md Ashanudin was called into action moments later when he saved a dipping free-kick from Md Nazirul.

Md Nur Azees' through ball carved open space for Md Nur Ikhmal Othman in the box, but continuing BYT's poor form in front of the goal, he fired wide despite catching Abdul Hafiz out of his line.

Syazwan Azizi should have made it 2-0 mid-way through the half when he stole the ball from a careless Ak Dinnie Hafizan Pg Azman at the edge of the BYT area. However, his shot missed the target much to the dismay of the Kilanas faithful.

As fatigue set in, BYT looked destined to be sentenced for their poor finishing with their first loss of the league.

But invigorated after the goal which launched a shouting war between the two sets of fans BYT embarked on a series of attacks, which unfortunately was too little too late.

BPL II action continues tomorrow with four games held across three districts.

BIBD FT withstood Kilanas FC's barrage of attacks to escape with a point during their DST Group Brunei Premier League II match at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium in Berakas yesterday.

The match was Kilanas FC's lost after they failed to capitalise on their numerous chances and in the end had to settle for a 1-1 stalemate.

Shaiful Mohammad salvaged a point for BIBD FT with a miraculous goal early in the second half after Kilanas FC's Kurmin Hj Bini's effort left them in the backfoot.

Enjoying most of the possession early in the match, the forward gave Kilanas FC a well-deserved lead when he beat the defence and shot past BIBD FT goalkeeper Ak Ahmad Fitri Pg Hj Momin in the 22nd minute.

Kilanas FC's Md Ehsan Hj Moksin had two chances to widen the lead against their opponents but both his shots went wide.

BIBD FT replied with skipper Shaiful wrongfooting Kilanas FC defender Md Nazirul Azim Hj Annuar and taking aim at the bottom corner of the near post but goalkeeper Abdul Hafiz Ahmad parried the ball.

Shaiful collected the rebound and played it to Mohd Shukor Hj Abd Ghani who blasted the ball wide.

The last notable action of the first half was when Ak Azwandy Pg Hj Othman delivered a splendid ball into BIBD FT's box from a corner kick but Kilanas FC captain Md Alikhan Hj Md Yakop was unable to direct the ball goalwards.

BIBD FT returned with much vigour after the break and it paid off when they won a corner. Ak Mohd Asrin Pg Hj Mohammadin's kick drifted to the far edge of the box, where Shaiful met the ball with a header that lobbed beyond the Kilanas FC goalkeeper's reach in the 49th minute to level the scoreline.

The goal sparked BIBD FT's charge forward for an end-to-end battle but it was still Kilanas FC that had the better chances.

Kurmin picked up on Md Khairul Hj Abd Halim's over-the-head pass to slice through the BIBD FT defence. He passed the ball to Ak Azwandy but the BIBD FT goalkeeper Ak Ahmad Fitri denied him a goal with an excellent save.

Midfielder Md Ehsan led a counter into opponent territory and had BIBD FT defender Amp Md Badaruddin Asri Amp Hj Said beaten to freely rifle the ball goalwards. Yet Ak Ahmad Fitri came to BIBD FT's rescue again when he managed to put a hand to the ball to keep his side in the game.

Then Mohd Saidy Hj Abd Rahman and Kilanas FC goalkeeper Abdul Hafiz collided when attempting to intercept Md Salihen Suhaimi's cross from the left flank. Substitute Ak Md Fakhrul Hibatullah Pg Hamzah buried the loose ball into the back of Kilanas FC's net but the goal was ruled out as the linesman had his flag up.

Meanwhile substitute Ak Mohd Sukri Pg Hj Jaluddin wasted two golden opportunities to give Kilanas FC the advantage late in the match.

First, the 24-year-old missed the gaping goalmouth from pointblank after Zulhilmy Majid provided the opportunity. The second time was when BIBD FT goalkeeper Ak Ahmad Fitri fumbled the ball while attempting to save Md Razi Hj Tamit's tame freekick. Ak Mohd Sukri latched onto the ball but the shot was well off-course.

Over at the Brunei Shell Recreational Club in Seria, Brunei Shell FT and Muara Vella FC battled to a 0-0 draw.The Brunei Times

TWO penalties in the first half condemned BIBD FT to a 2-1 defeat against Rimba Star FC during their DST Group Brunei Premier League II (BPL II) match at the Berakas Sports Complex last night.

It was a match to forget for BIBD FT defender Ahmad Nazmie Omar who committed the fouls that allowed Md Rafiie Hj Abd Majid and Hazwan Hamzah to seal the deal in Rimba Star's favour.

Though BIBD FT were the better side throughout the match, the bankers only notched one goal via Ak Md Khairul Anwar Pg Md Salleh.

Supporters did not have to wait long for the goals to come by when both teams found the back of the net within three minutes of the game.

It looked like BIBD FT faced an uphill task early in the match when Ahmad Nazmie felled a Rimba Star player within the box.

Md Rafiie stepped up to the spot and he made no mistake to fire Rimba Star to the front in the 2nd minute.

However the Rimba Star followers were silenced a mere minute later when Ak Md Khairul Anwar towered over the defence to drill in the equaliser.

The BIBD FT forward almost provided an assist with a low cross from the right flank but Mohd Saidy Hj Abd Rahman was not able to direct it into the net.

Mohd Saidy had another chance, at the receiving end of Md Salihen Suhaimi's corner kick, but the header was off target.

BIBD FT skipper Shaiful Mohammad curled in a freekick into the opponents' box and Amp Md Badaruddin Asri Amp Hj Said should have done better to give his team the advantage.

The bankers were made to rue the missed chances when the referee awarded another penalty kick in Rimba Star's favour following another reckless challenge by Ahmad Nazmie.

Hazwan successfully buried the ball into the back of the net but the celebration was cut short when the referee insisted the penalty kick to be re-taken.

It only delayed the inevitable as the Rimba Star skipper beat BIBD FT goalkeeper Ak Ahmad Fitri Pg Hj Momin again to restore their one-goal lead in the 24th minute.

Md Salihen tried to put BIBD FT on level terms soon after with a header goalwards but Rimba Star goalkeeper Abd Rahim Awg Tengah dived excellently for the save.

Rimba Star thought they had lost the lead when their failure to clear a corner gave Mohd Shukor Hj Abd Ghani time and space to fire a missile past stunned Abd Rahim.

However the bankers were left disappointed when the linesman raised the flag for an offside.

Both teams started off the second half slowly and neither teams had any clear cut chances on goal.

The BIBD FT supporters grew frustrated with their players' lack of creativity to find the equaliser and started to chant the team's name to muster up their spirit.

Substitute Ak Syafie Pg Hj Shahrum almost repaid their belief by finding the first real chance of the half but it flashed wide off the near post.

A confusion in Rimba Star's box allowed Md Salihen to shoot from point blank but it went straight to the goalkeeper.

He tried to test the goalkeeper again soon after but Abd Rahim rushed off the posts before he could pull the trigger.

Even with four minutes of stoppage time the bankers were unable to break down Rimba Star, who made no notable threats at all throughout the match besides the penalties, and paid the price with the 2-1 defeat.

The result in Berakas last night means BIBD FT slip down to fifth while BPL II debutants Rimba Star soared to third in the 10-team BPL II table.

The BPL II will resume with five matches slated this weekend.

Saturday's sole match will pit Rimba Star and basement team Menglait FC at the Berakas Sports Complex at 8.15pm. Meanwhile, three matches are slated to take place on Sunday at 4pm.

Brunei Shell FT will play host to Muara Vella FC at the Brunei Shell Recreational Club in Seria, while BIBD FT take on leaders Kilanas FC at the Balapan Track (moved to SNHB) and Field in Berakas. Over at the Berakas Sports Complex, Brunei Youth Team will take on Lun Bawang. The late match will feature league namesakes DST Group FT and Perkasa at the same venue at 8.15pm.

KILANAS FC fought back from a goal down to win 2-1 against DST Group FT in their DST Group Brunei Premier League II (BPL II) match at the Berakas Sports Complex last night.

A goal each from Md Khairul Hj Abd Halim and Md Ehsan Hj Moksin in the second half allowed Kilanas to keep hold of top spot in the lower tier league.

The league namesakes were unable to hold onto their one-goal advantage that Hj Khairul Anuar Hj Yakub scored in the 15th minute.

Kilanas players celebrated joyously when the whistle blew and those unfamiliar with the BPL II would have thought that the team had already won the league.

"It's because we are aiming to better our record compared to last season, when we were held 2-2 by DST Group. We consider DST Group FT one of the strongest teams in the league. With this match done, the next team to beat will be BIBD FT," said Mohd Kamran Sah, the Kilanas assistant manager.

Assessing the overall performance of the team, Mohd Kamran was generally happy with how they controlled the first half although luck was not on their side.

"The match was more balanced in the second half. DST Group were looking to defend their lead so we just kept piling on the pressure. Getting the first goal definitely made the team work harder to score the winner," he added.

Kilanas' Md Alikhan Hj Md Yakop fired a warning shot that DST Group FT goalkeeper Md Ruzaini Abdullah Subi had to palm away at the far post.

DST Group replied with Ahmad Aiman Hj Awg Besar playing Ahmah Mumtaz Hj Johor through for a shot on goal but the latter's effort was blocked.

Though Kilanas had more attacking opportunities, it was DST Group that gained the advantage when Hj Khairul Anuar towered over the defence to drill in the opener in the 15th minute.

Kilanas stepped on the pedal for the second half and the pressure paid off with Md Khairul rifling in the equaliser in the 53rd minute.

Substitute Md Ehsan was called in to play in the 64th minute and the 21-year-old Kilanas player only took a minute to make an impact. The midfielder beat the DST Group defence on the left flank for a one-on-one with goalkeeper Md Ruzaini. Md Ehsan curled the ball with his right footed shot into the top corner of the DST Group goalkeeper's far post in the 65th minute.

BIBD FT sounded the warning in the DST Group Brunei Premier League II (BPL II) after a 2-1 victory over Lun Bawang at the Batu Apoi Sports Complex in Temburong yesterday.

Formerly known as the Brunei Association of Banks and under a new management, the bankers showed that they are not the same team that lost 4-0 to Lun Bawang last season.

Md Saidy Abdul Rahman fired BIBD FT into the lead in the 61st minute before Ak Md Khairul Anwar Pg Md Salleh Chuchu doubled the advantage in the 82nd minute.

The home team scored a consolation goal in the 87th minute via Christopher Ambon.

BIBD FT manager Pg Shahrul Hayat Pg Hj Shamsu expressed satisfaction at how the team had started their campaign.

"We, the management committee, are satisfied with the players today (Sunday). I admit that in the first half we had problems in trying to break down the opponents' possession. A change of tactic after the break finally allowed us to break the deadlock ... It was a good result to get when taking into account the less than satisfactory condition of the field," said the BIBD FT manager.

The field was in bad condition when the skies opened up over the Batu Apoi Sports Complex. Though the rain subsided midway through the match, the damage had already been done.

"This is a good result to get for the first match ... Of course, the objective of any team's participation in a tournament is to become the champions. If everything goes well for the team then we could probably achieve that target. However, it's only our first match and, therefore, still too soon to draw any conclusions," said Pg Shahrul Hayat.

Meanwhile, the other BPL II match witnessed the Brunei Shell FT (BSFT) stumble in their quest to return to the top-tier league at the Brunei Shell Recreation Club in Seria.

Md Faisul Zaini scored in the 90th minute against Rimba Star FC to force a 1-1 draw.

Md Qamarulludin Abd Rahim fired the visitors' goal in the 36th minute.

With yesterday's matches concluded, it means that all 10 teams already had a taste of the season to come.

Kilanas FC still lead the table following their 4-1 hammering of Menglait FC, who sit last, on Friday.

League namesakes DST Group FT and BIBD FT are level at second place.

In the middle of the table sits organisers the Football Federation of Brunei Darussalam's project Brunei Youth Team, Perkasa, BSFT and Rimba Star.

Pointless Muara Vella and Lun Bawang place at the undesired end of the table.

Local football action resumes with the BPL I match between Jerudong FC and leaders the Royal Brunei Armed Forces' Sports Council at the Berakas Sports Complex tomorrow at 8.15pm.

KILANAS FC surged to the top of the DST Group Brunei Premier League (BPL) II after an emphatic 4-1 win over Menglait FC while Brunei Youth Team (BYT) had to settle for a 2-2 draw with Perkasa after conceding a late equaliser in yesterday's season opener.

The triple-header also saw tournament namesakes the DST Group Football Team beat Muara Vella 2-1 at the Berakas Sports Complex, but the real headlines were at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium in Berakas, where goals from brothers Md Saiful Ariffin and Saiful Ammar Hj Adis cancelled out a brace from BYT captain Md Azwan Ali Rahman.

A brainchild of the Football Federation of Brunei Darussalam (FFBD), BYT are regarded as the future of Brunei football and finished a commendable seventh in their debut in the 11-team BPL II last season.

But despite having the upper-hand in yesterday's match which saw both teams forced to play with 10 men in the second half BYT's concentration faded in the last quarter of an hour and let in a sloppy goal which cost them the win.

The most promising player on the pitch, Md Azwan got on the scoresheet in the ninth minute when he controlled a hefty goal-kick from his goalkeeper Ron Junior Philip and scored from inside the box after cutting in from the left flank.

It was 1-1 three minutes later when a mix-up in defence saw Philip rush out of his line to let Saiful Ammar score, but BYT regained the lead in the 32nd minute when Md Azwan kept his composure to slot home a precision pass from Md Nur Ikhwan Othman.

BYT would continue to control the game, and their organisation in midfield meant Perkasa were second best in possession and territory.

The game's complexion changed five minutes from the break when BYT's Md Taufiqillah Abdul Hamid and Perkasa's Masrodie Joinidi were sent to an early shower after a scuffle, but BYT still managed to enjoy the upper hand in the second half.

Md Azwan and Abdul Al-Wardy Abdul Hamid both had chances that were denied by the woodwork, while Perkasa's best attempt was cleared off the line by Md Nazri Hj Erwan.

Running out of steam, Md Azwan was substituted around the hour mark in what was the game's turning point.

Though his replacement Md Shapiee Hj Mohd Efenddy proved to be a menace with his tireless runs, and Md Aminuddin Zakwan Tahir was a threat down the right flank, Perkasa's experience slowly started to shine through.

Beginning to string passes together and break down BYT's midfield, Perkasa's only fault was they lacked finesse in the final third.

Saiful Ammar had a weak long-range attempt that hardly troubled Philip, but there was nothing the glovesman could do when he punched a shot to Md Saiful Ariffin in the 86th minute, who duly headed home the equaliser.

"Both of us are proud and happy to have scored the goals," said Saiful Ammar after the match.

"It just goes to show that if you work hard anything can happen," added the former BYT player.

Emphasising the importance of a good result in their opener, the late drama was definitely not to Hj Md Rosanan Abdullah Samak's liking.

"They blew it ... Their mentality wasn't strong enough," was all the visibly frustrated BYT coach had to say.

Kilanas' lead at the top of the table isn't set in stone though, as the four remaining clubs in the 10-team league all take to the field tomorrow.

Lun Bawang host Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam Football Team (BIBD FT) at the Batu Apoi Sports Complex in Batu Apoi, Temburong, at 3pm, while over at the other end of the Sultanate in the Belait district, Brunei Shell Football Team go up against league debutants Rimba Star FC at the Brunei Shell Recreation Club in Seria at 4pm.

Kilanas Football Club (KFC) with their new jersey sponsored by Arki-Konsept

Bandar Seri Begawan - The Kilanas Football Club (KFC) held a handing-over ceremony of sponsored jerseys by Arki-Konsept at the Excellent Taste Restaurant in Kiarong yesterday.

At the ceremony were committee members of KFC, representatives of Arki-Konsept, crews and players of KFC and invited guests.

On hand to receive the jerseys were Saidin bin Hj Alim, Chairman of KFC, Hj Mohd Ameerolbalnynee bin Hj Abdul Hamid, KFC manager and Sidek bin Eya. KFC head coach.

The chairman of KFC in his speech said: "Our aim is ultimately to become champion in the B-League this year, and with these new jerseys it is hoped that KFC players could be more vibrant in achieving our goal."

The ceremony followed with a presentation of gifts to representatives of Arki-Konsept and incentives to all KFC players.

Revamped Kota Ranger Look To Secure DST BPL II (PLAY-OFF DRAW)

Bandar Seri Begawan - Kota Ranger are optimistic of keeping their hope of playing in the DST Group Brunei Premier League II (BPL II) alive.

Last season's BPL II basement dwellers Kota Ranger will have to fight against five other teams in contention for a spot in the lower tier of Brunei football in the playoff starting February 27.

"We're definitely ready to tackle the play-offs. However, I can't say that I'm confident because it's a strong group. So we're aiming to at least notch a win and a draw. The most important match will be the first one," said Kota Ranger manager and coach Md Isa Hj Marsidi.

"The team had been put into a total overhaul. None of the players from last season are in the squad this season, 100 per cent new players. So I will need their cooperation to make it through because as the manager I'll only be at the sidelines during the match," he said.

"It is them who will feel the pressure on the field," he added.

Kota Ranger were made aware of their fate during the BPL II play-off draw held at the Football Federation of Brunei Darussalam (FFBD) office in Kiulap yesterday.

Chaired by FFBD secretariat Johari Hj Bungsu and attended by the managers vying for a berth in the BPL II,

Kota Ranger were placed into Group B alongside Viva Rangers and the Royal Brunei Police Forces' Sports Council, Setia Perdana, Sabli's FC and Rimba Star FC round up Group A.

The leaders of each respective group will then contest in the final, to be held at the Berakas Sports Complex on March 12 at 8.15pm.

Viva Rangers, Sabli's FC and Rimba Star FC took part in the DST FA Cup qualification matches last season.

Not since the 2004/05 season have non-league teams been given the opportunity to play in the competition.

The nine confirmed teams in BPL II this year are Brunei Shell Football Team, Muara Vella FC, Perkasa, Lun Bawang, Kilanas FC, Menglait FC, Brunei Youth (Under-16), Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam Football Team (BIBD FT) and DST Group Football Team.

BIBD FT were formerly known as the Brunei Associations of Banks.

Meanwhile the 10 teams in the BPI, I this season are defending champions QAF FC, the Royal Brunei Armed Forces' Sports Council (MS ABDB), Majra FC, term-long FC <--(Typo kah BT?? Perasan ku Jerudong kali??), Wijaya FC, AH United, AM Gunners FC, Indera FC, hang(?? Liang kali ah!!) Lumut Recreation Club Football Learn (LLRC FT) and the Prisons Department.

The BPL I will kick-off on March 8 while the first match of the BPL II is scheduled for March 25.

THE Football Federation of Brunei Darussalam (FFBD) ended months of speculation and hearsay yesterday when it announced that the local football season will kick-off on March 5.

It will be a familiar sight for fans of the sport when they take to the Berakas Sports Complex at 8.15pm to watch the Champions' Cup clash between two of the Sultanate's powerhouses, QAF FC and Royal Brunei Armed Forces' Sports Council (MS ABDB).

The DST Group Brunei Premier League (BPL) I will kick-off on March 8 while the first match of the BPL II is scheduled for March 25.

The BPL I will start earlier because it is played in a home and away format, so there are more games.

The uncertainty surrounding the start of the leagues has been the talk of the local football community for many months and Sheikh Nordin Sheikh Mohamad instantly addressed the issue during a meeting attended by club representatives yesterday.

"On behalf of FFBD I want to apologise for the lateness in organising the tournaments ... But there were reasons beyond our control," said the FFBD secretary-general.

"FFBD had negotiations with sponsors in December, so you can see, there have been steps to organise the leagues that ran last year.

"As usual the curtain-raiser will be the Champions' Cup where once again QAF FC will face MS ABDB," he added during the gathering at a restaurant in Kiulap.

This time last year both leagues had already entered the second round, with QAF FC and Liang Lumut Recreation Club Football Team (LLRC FT) undefeated and leading the pack in BPL I and BPL II respectively.

QAF FC are the titleholders in the Champions' Cup after beating MS ABDB 2-0 in May 2009. They also won the BPL I and DST Group Brunei League Cup title, edging the army men in both competitions the former by two points and the latter by a 1-0 scoreline.

The 10 teams in the BPL I this season are defending champions QAF FC, MS ABDB, Majra FC, Jerudong FC, Wijaya FC, AH United, AM Gunners FC, Indera FC, Liang Lumut Recreation Club Football Team (LLRC FT) and the Prisons Department.

LLRC FT and Prisons Department were promoted from BPL II after ending the season as champions and runners-up respectively. Both teams ended the season undefeated.

The nine confirmed teams in BPL II this year are Brunei Shell Football Team, Muara Vella FC, Perkasa, Lun Bawang, Kilanas FC, Menglait FC, Brunei Youth (Under-16), Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam Football Team (BIBD FT) and DST Group Football Team.

BIBD FT were formerly known as the Brunei Associations of Banks.

Last year's BPL II basement dwellers, Kota Ranger, will have to fight for their confirmation in this year's competition.

They will compete in a play-off against several teams that have applied to join the BPL II.

It is understood that the Royal Brunei Police Force are one of the interested parties.

Sheikh Nordin also assured the representatives that the other two DST Group tournaments, as well as the national age-group competitions, will be back in 2011.

"The DST Group Brunei FA Cup will be held and as usual it will be conducted in a knock-out format. We will open the competition to more non-league teams, like how they do it in England," he said.

"The DST Group Brunei League Cup will also be contested.

"The National Under-14 and Under-16 leagues will continue. The plan is for the Under-16 league to start before the Under-14 league, probably at the same time as the BPL I in March," he added.

Plans for similar leagues at the Under-10 and Under-12 age groups were also revealed, though the secretary-general said there was no guarantee they would get off the ground this year.

He also talked about the possibility of setting up a futsal league late in the year after the conclusion of the four DST Group BPL tournaments to give footballers year-long competition.

The issue of having imports for this season was also raised, and though nothing was set in stone, Sheikh Nordin said that it was his personal opinion it would not be a wise decision since not all teams could afford foreign players.

The uncertainty surrounding Brunei's status in world football might also make it hard for players to get international transfer certificates (ITC) to play in the Sultanate since the FFBD is not recognised internationally.The Brunei Times

ROYAL Brunei Armed Forces' Sports Council (MS ABDB) showed exactly why they are the defending DST Group Brunei FA Cup champions by crushing Brunei Shell FT (BSFT) 8-1 at the Berakas Sports Complex last night, booking their spot in the quarterfinals.Abd Azizi Ali Rahman scored a hat-trick while skipper Rosmin Hj Md Kamis came through with a pair of goals. MS ABDB teammates Md Isa Hj Bahar, Ak Md Fakharrazi Pg Hj Hassan and Md Safari Wahit all got into the goal scoring run.

BSFT's lone goal was scored by Junaidi Ibrahim in the 15th minute.Brunei Shell FT never found their footing against the rampant armymen last night. MS ABDB's fluid passing and through ball were easily penetrating the porous BSFT defence forcing the goalkeeper to stretch to parry Suhaime Hj Md Yussof and Ak Mahalie Pg Hj Sulaiman's early efforts on goal.The increasing pressure put paid to the fragile defence as early as the 5th minute, Abd Azizi driving a header to the far post beyond the BSFT goalkeeper's reach.

A minute later it was ex-DPMM Rosmin who found the mark to double the advantage, finding space outside the box before unleashing a long shot that took a fortunate deflection off a BSFT player.BSFT seemed to have rallied themselves back into the match when Junaidi towered over the armymen to connect with Kamarul Rambli's freekick from the left flank to cut the deficit.That proved to be more of false hope than anything else, as Abd Azizi and Md Safari scored within the space of three minutes to give MS ABDB a commanding lead.Rosmin's header and Md Isa's shot increased the armymen's goal tally to 6 before the end of the first half, putting the match beyond all doubt.Three minutes into the second half, Md Baharin unleashed Abd Azizi straight on goal with a delightful through ball to blast into the bottom right post to complete his hat-trick. Md Isa's thunderous strike in the 59th minute ended the armymen's goal-fest to take them into the quarterfinals.

The eight teams that will be joining MS ABDB in the quarterfinals are: Indera FC, AM Gunners FC, Jerudong FC, NBT FC, Kilanas FC, QAF FC and LLRC FT. Indera FC will kick-off their quarterfinal tomorrow night, taking on the Gunners at the Berakas Sports Complex at 8.15pm. Rampant goalscoring MS ABDB will battle Jerudong FC on Saturday (April 3) at the Balapan Track and Field in Berakas.

DST Group Brunei Premier League I (BPL I) bottom-dwellers NBT FC will aim to defeat another BPL II-side in their FA Cup conquest, Kilanas FC, at the Berakas Sports Complex that same night.

Saving the best for last, the most anticipated quarterfinal tie will feature the respective champions of the BPL slug it out on Sunday (April 4). Powered by BPL I top-scorer Viban Francis Bayong, QAF FC will be up against the undefeated BPL II champions LLRC FT at the Balapan Track and Field.

VIVA RANGERS FC face a tough match in the first round of the DST Group Brunei FA Cup after being drawn against P Lun Bawang in the draw held at the Football Federation of Brunei Darussalam (FFBD) office in Kiulap yesterday.Slated for Wednesday Mar 24, the most exciting match of the draw was reserved for the final day of the first round.The Rangers, powered by Shahrazen Hj Md Said, earned the right to continue their fight in the FA Cup by beating Sabli's FC 3-1 in the qualifying rounds final on Friday.

The 2006/2007 Malaysian Super League (MSL) season joint top scorer has proven to be the most dangerous arsenal in the Rangers hold, scoring a goal and an assist against Rimba Star FC on Monday.The draw was made by FFBD officials Pg Adnan Pg Seri Indera Pg Hj Ismail and Mohammad Hj Tunjang, the former drawing the home team while the latter the away team.Witnessed by representatives of the BPL II teams, the draw became a case of the top versus bottom of the BPL II teams.

FFBD secretariat Johari Hj Bungsu explained yesterday that yellow cards handed to the players during the BPL II campaign will be rescinded.Red cards on the other hand will be further discussed in a meeting by the officials.FFBD treasurer Pg Adnan then consented to say some words to the participating clubs."On behalf of FFBD, I would like to say that we hope that the teams will give a good showing throughout the FA Cup."In the future, we hope that more clubs will be interested to participate ... This is one of the steps we have taken to develop football in Brunei, which is in line with the vision we have set up and hope to reach."For the competing clubs I would like to say may the best team win, and those that didn't to try again," he said.

Winless DST Group FC were handed the short end of the straw when they were drawn against undefeated Prisons Department due Sunday Mar 21.Second place Prisons Department's last result was a 3-2 win over Muara Vella FC while DST Group FC fell 3-2 against Menglait FC.BPL II champions LLRC FT are up against seventh place Brunei Youth Team.

The first round of the FA Cup will start on Mar 15, Monday, between Kota Ranger and Kilanas FC.Kick-off is at 8.15pm.

MS ABDB end BPL I champions' unbeaten record THE Royal Brunei Armed Forces' Sports Council (MS ABDB) handed QAF FC their first defeat in the DST Group Brunei Premier League I (BPL I) at Penanjong Camp in Tutong, thus breaking their 17-game undefeated streak and ending the champions' season on a sour note.Md Isa Hj Bahar gave MS ABDB the lead in the 29th minute and Rosmin Hj Md Khamis added another five minutes later.Cameroonian Vivan Francis Bayong was on target for QAF FC to make it 2-1 before the break.However Bayong's goal was all for nought as Rosmin sealed MS ABDB's win by scoring his second of the night in the 68th minute.

Despite the loss, Md Ali Mustafa, the QAF FC head coach, was not shaken."We didn't really come into the match hoping to defend the unbeaten streak. What's important is that even though we lost, we have really learned from the experience that the match provided."Half of the team fielded tonight (Sunday night) were reserves, so we were able to examine their performance at this level," said the coach.MS ABDB would savour the bittersweet win last night, getting their revenge over the three times BPL I champions, to whom they have played second fiddle to for most of the season. QAF FC, on 47 points, will receive a sum of $10,000 for being the BPL I champions.Second place MS ABDB, on 45 points, are set to gain $7,000.

Third place falls to AM Gunners FC, ending their season with style by beating AH United 6-0 at the Balapan Track and Field in Berakas last night. The scoring frenzy started late in the first half with Rosmini Kahar's goal in the 34th minute, while Hj Md Subhi Abdillah Hj Bakir also got on the scoresheet to double their advantage before the break.It did not take long for the Gunners to get another. Two minutes into the second half Ahmad Eimanuddin Hj Mahrub was right on target to make it 3-0.Hj Md Subhi scored his second in the 64th minute, before Md Nazri Hj Hassan and Md Najib Hj Tarif put the result beyond all doubt by scoring in the 88th and 91st minutes respectively.The Gunners, having 39 points from 18 matches, will receive $5,000.

The other BPL I match yesterday saw host Brunei Shell FT (BSFT) pull a surprise 2-1 win over Majra FC at the BSRC field in Seria.Ak Md Syazwan and Khairol Ridwan scored for BSFT before Md Faizal scored Majra FC's consolation goal in the 67th minute.The miraculous win now puts BSFT back into ninth in the 10-team table, demoting NBT FC back into the automatic relegation spot.BSFT and NBT FC still have to fight a relegation battle after their BPL I match was cancelled because of a technical reason on Feb 17.

The remaining matches of the DST Group Brunei Premier League II (BPL II) were also played out yesterday.Last night the Berakas Sports Complex witnessed the Brunei Association of Banks (BAB) claim a 3-1 win over Kota Ranger. BAB's goals were scored by Md Zahiruddin, Md Jufri and Ak Md Khairul Anwar.Md Salwa Faizal scored Kota Ranger's lone goal in the 77th minute. Earlier in the evening DST Group FT held third place P Lun Bawang to a 1-1 draw at the Berakas Sports Complex in Berakas.Hj Md Romeezy scored in the 29th minute before DST Group FT's Md Ruzaini scored the equaliser in the 64th minute.The result means nothing to Lun Bawang, however, as they are already rooted at third, on 23 points, and will receive a sum of B$2,000.

Second place Prisons Department have earned themselves B$3,000, while unbeaten BPL II champions LLRC FT will get B$5,000.Though the BPL I and BPL II are over, football fans need not worry for the DST Group Brunei FA Cup will kick off tonight.

Rimba Star FC will take on Viva Rangers, featuring one of the most missed and feared Brunei football figures, Shahrazen Hj Md Said, at the Berakas Sports Complex at 8.15pm.

THE 2009/10 season of the DSTGroup Brunei Premier League I (BPL I) and II (BPL II) is coming to a close with the last remaining matches to be wrapped up by the next couple of weeks.Last night's 2-0 win over AH United crowned QAF FC BPL I champions for the third consecutive year and they have Cameroonian Vivan Francis Bayong's brace to thank for.

It might not be an easy task to repeat the feat next season as the BPL I welcomes a new challenger.BPL II champions LLRC FT ended their season on a high by beating Menglait FC 2-1 last week to not only remain unbeaten, notching nine wins with a only a 2-2 draw to Prisons Department denying them a perfect 10 record, but also earn themselves a spot in the BPL I.Md Azri Jebri reserved LLRC's spot with the winning goal with a run on the left flank that beat Menglait's defence and goalkeeper, Ak Md Mu'izzudin in the 49th minute.

Thus LLRC will find themselves competing among the titans of Brunei football, particularly QAF FC, Royal Brunei Armed Forces Sports' Council (MS ABDB) and the team that denied them promotion last year, AM Gunners.Yet LLRC might not be the only BPL II team that will compete in the BPL I next season. Another familiar face that could be promoted is their rival to the BPL II crown, Prisons Department. Having secured the second spot in the BPL II with 26 points, Prisons Department will face off the ninth placed team of the BPL I, currently Brunei Shell FT (BSFT). The winner of the play-off will earn the right to compete in Brunei's top tier league.

BSFT must improve their performance in the last couple of fixtures to remain in BPL I. BSFT and last place NBT FC are currently tied at five points with identical win-draw-lost (1-2-13) record. Only BSFT's better goal difference (-33) separates the two. But that might all change tonight when the two teams face off at the Balapan Track and Field in Berakas in a do-or-die battle. A match pitting the bottom dwellers against each other might summon the survival instincts within, as to the victor goes the spoils. Especially for NBT FC sitting where they are now, automatic relegation to the BPL II is looming before their very eyes.

League namesake DST Group FC and Kota Ranger on the other hand might find themselves completely off the chart next season. The two teams only had three and one point respectively. To remain in the BPL II next season then they will have to win the pre-season playoffs against teams which have yet to be chosen by the league organisers.Will the teams have what it takes to remain in the BPL II, or will we see new unknown teams vie for promotion into BPL I next season? Four-star Brunei Youth end season with victory

BRUNEI Youth (Under-16 Team) ended their debut DSTGroup Brunei Premier League II campaign on a high after beating Kilanas FC 4-0 yesterday.Equalling their largest margin of victory, which came last Sunday when a side filled with reserves beat Kota Ranger 4-0, the teenagers could have easily scored more yesterday if not for their poor finishing at the Balapan Track and Field at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex in Berakas.Despite picking up their third win of the season, the teenagers end their campaign still eighth in the 11-team table. Kilanas remain in fourth but wins for Brunei Association of Banks or Perkasa in next week's action could see them displaced.Md Fakhrul Tamimi Hj Sahari opened the scoring in the 39th minute after a chipped pass over goalkeeper Ampuan Md Abd Rahman Ampuan Hj Abd Kahar handed him the easiest of finishes.After winning the ball in midfield, Brunei Youth delivered a perfectly weighted pass to Md Nurikhwan Othman which unlocked the entire Kilanas defence three minutes after the restart.Though his attempt was boxed away by Ampuan Md Abd Rahman, Md Taufiqilah Abd Hamid was at hand to make it 2-0.Md Rudy Hazwan Kamaruddin celebrated his 17th birthday in style when he scored the game's best goal in the 64th minute.Calmly controlling a cross-field pass from the right, he produced a clinical left-footed strike which flew across the face of goal and left Ampuan Md Abd Rahman punching the ground in frustration.Md Nurikhwan got on the scoresheet 10 minutes from time when he rounded Ampuan Md Abd Rahman after another defence splitting pass from midfield.If not for being caught out by Kilanas' offside traps, Brunei Youth could have easily doubled their tally.

But at least they were creating chances, and that was what mattered the most to Rosanan Samak."You can see that the chances were there. That (creating chances) was a problem when we first started playing in the league," said the Brunei Youth coach after the match."This is our first year and I can see we are improving day by day."The players were full of confidence, especially since Rudy is celebrating his birthday today (Friday)," he said, adding that the team would now start preparing for the DSTGroup Brunei FA Cup which will kick off on March 1.

The afternoon's other match saw P Lun Bawang thrash Kota Ranger 9-1 at the Berakas Sports Complex.The win cements the Temburong team's position in third, while bottom of the table Kota Ranger end the season without a win to their name.The 8.15pm kick-off at the Berakas Sports Complex, meanwhile, saw Prisons Department edge Muara Vella FC 3-2.The result maintains Prisons Department's spot at second while Muara Vella ends the season ninth.Liang Lumut Recreation Club (LLRC) Football Team were crowned BPL II champions on Monday after a 2-1 win over Menglait FC.

KILANAS FC AKAN MENGHARAPKAN KEMENANGAN KE-5 SEKADAR UNTUK MEMPERBAIKI KEDUDUKAN DAN JUGA MENGUKUHKAN REPUTASI BAIK PASUKAN KILANAS FC. Di babak pertama Perdana II, Kilanas FC banyak membuang peluang untuk menang, "kalah tipis" menjadi ristaan biasa bagi kitani. Jika dilihat game2 yg lepas, menyesal tidak berfaedah. Tapi jangan terlampau memandang ke belakang dan TUJU KE HADAPAN!!! FANS witnessed one of the most exciting match of the DST Group Brunei Premier League II (BPL II) last night as Banks Association of Brunei (BAB) levelled after three goals down, only for Kilanas FC to rally back to win 6-3 at the Balapan Track and Field in Berakas.

Awg Sidik Tya, coach of Kilanas was relieved with the win, "I have to admit my heart was beating when they equalised. I'm glad that we managed to get our act together to win."

Striker Zulhilmy Abd Majid scored for Kilanas in the first minute of the match with a strike that beat BAB goalkeeper Md Nazib Nasrudin near post.

BAB defender Amir Emashukry Hj Sulaiman conceded an own goal when he headed the ball over Md Nazib, who went off his line to catch the ball, and watched the ball bounce into the net in the fourth minute.

On 19th, Al Md Sukri (Correction: Ak Md Shukri) easily defeated Md Nazib in a one-on-one situation to give Kilanas a three goal lead.

BAB got their first goal of the night courtesy of Ak Md Khairol Anwar Pg Hj Salleh, heading the ball over Kilanas goalkeeper Md Fadillah Kamis to make it 3-1 in the 22nd.

Though BAB were forced into defensive play for the remaining period, it was them who scored in the final minute of the half.

Striker Md Adiman Yaakub ran down the right and had a shot goalwards which should have been a comfortable save for Md Fadillah. However the goalkeeper let the ball went under him to gift BAB their second goal of the night.

BAB were looking more spirited in the second half, and got their equaliser when Md Yusuf Tuah played in Md Adiman Yaakub who took a shot that deflected off Kilanas defender Md Faisal Hashim into the net to level the score at 3-3 in the 61st minute.

However, BAB's joy was shortlived as Kilanas got the lead back just four minutes later when Md Razi delivered a corner kick that captain Md Alikhan Hj Md Yakob scored with a powerful header. (Correction: Lihan Kah Kurmin??)

The fifth goal for Kilanas came in the 70th minute when Md Razi struck a powerful shot from the left at a tight angle that beat Md Nazib but not the far post. The ball bounced to Md Eshan, who comfortably headed the ball into the net.

Md Eshan then turned provider in the 80th minute by squaring the ball for Kurmin Awg Hj Bini, who completely missed it, but Md Azmi Hj Zainin was only too happy to take the chance and scored Kilanas' sixth goal of the night.

The other BPL II match of the night saw Muara Vella triumphed 5-1 over DST Group FC at the Berakas Sports Complex.

Sulaiman Ahad scored a brace, while Md Saidy Abd Rahman, Rosmi Merali and Abd Azim Zainal also got on the scoresheet with a goal each.

Md Fakhri Ismail scored DST's lone goal in the 34th minute.

Ok, pasal aku inda main tdi, boleh ku buat liputan buatan sendiri (nya urg putih 'Homemade' the Brunei style)....

Kilanas FC hanya kalah tipis 2-3 kepada squad "gagah perdana I" Majra FC yang sebelum ini, *ehem* mengalahkan team kesayangan tani 10-0 semasa piala liga tahun lepas. Majra FC turun dengan hampir semua pemain2 1st team, yang mengandungi Tongga, Yussof Salleh, Adi c Shahrazen (lupa ku namanya nyanta, haha) dan selainnya lah. Separuh masa pertama kira 50-50 lah, walaupun padang licak mcm "sauh", eh salah, mcm sawah, kedua2 team mengasak (chances Majra lebih clear) tetapi Majra hanya mampu menjaring 2 goal walaupun Kilanas FC menjaringkan goal pertama perlawanan.

Goal pertama dijaringkan oleh c Bom (inda ku tahu nama mu bana' wang) yang bermula dari asakan Zulhilmy (Chong) yg mendribble di sebalah wing kanan dan terus membuat assist utk c Bom mengoalkan (Kitani tau lah bertapa lawanya dribble c chong, inda payah di x-plain lgi, klu mau detail, ala2 CR9 lah tpi lawa lgi, haha)..Majra menjaringkan goal pertama setelah berjaya terlepas dari tarikan off-side kitani. Goal kedua Majra FC dijaringkan oleh c Tongga melalui freekick yang tajam sampai c Dillah bolos (lawa free-kicknya, tapi ref atu menyusun wall atu hantap jauhnya ke belakang).

Separuh masa kedua Majra Fc membuat pressure berterusan tetapi Kilanas FC berjaya men-control game dan membuat berberapa counter attack sehingga satu long pass (lupa ku dari siapa) menjumpai Awang Kurmin dan terus 1-on-1 dengan goalkeeper dan terus memasukan bola ke gawang (sebelum ia lapas, c Kurmin kana pressure oleh GK dan defender sampai ia bepusing 360' darjah mcm orang ice-skating, sumpah! haha). Tetapi, mcm biasa, di hari yg gelap Kilanas FC (hari kurang nasib lah maksudnya tu), Kilanas FC bolos last minute, dan keputusan berakhir Kilanas FC 2-3 Majra FC.

Walauapapun fitness dan stamina para pemain nampak meningkat dari berberapa bulan yang lepas, cara mengontrol mainan pun ok and semangat sepasukan pun nampak jua di padang (ehem, kalau lah ramai tadi pemain lagi meriah tu, difahami pulang "malam pesta muda mudi", haha, jgn marah ah, ani comment dan pujian yg ikhlas apa jua pemandai ku). Dua pemain baru pun menunjukkan permainan yang baik tadi (lupa ku nana bes'ia). Anyways enjoy! ada sedikit photo...GO KILANAS!!!

Tahniah kepada Kilanas FC setelah mencatat kemenangan pertama tahun 2010 dan kemenangan kedua liga. Sekarang Kilanas FC telah mendapat 7 mata, (win-2, draw-1, lost-3)..Hanya tinggal 4 perlawan yang penting, jika kita mahu meningkatkan kemajuan Kilanas FC. Perlawanan seterusnya menentang BAB FT (Persatuan Bank) 25/01/10. Kemudian kita akan menentang gergasi KB iaitu LLRC FT pada 30/01/10. Kemudian dua perlawan seturusnya adalah menentang Perkasa dan Brunei Youth. KILANAS breezed past Muara Vella FC 6-2 in a DSTGroup Brunei Premier League II game which they dominated for large periods at the Berakas Sports Complex yesterday.

Though Muara Vella grabbed the first goal in the fifth minute when 39-year-old Rosli Ahad exploited some slack defending to score past Amp Md Abd Rahman Amp Hj Abd Kahar, it was the last time the goalkeeper had to pick the ball out of his net in the half.

Throughout the game it was evident Muara Vella were second best in all departments because they weren't as hungry for the ball, nor looking anything at all like the 'Red Giants of Brunei' they claim themselves to be.

Gifting Kilanas space and time, Muara Vella's lead evaporated in the space of two minutes when Ak Md Sukri Pg Hj Jaludin and Md Ehsan Hj Moksin netted in the 25th and 27th minutes.

Receiving a cross from the right, Ak Md Sukri held off a defender and side-stepped another before slotting past Ahmad Zawawi Pengarah Hj Ibrahim on the near post.

Kilanas' dominance in midfield was rewarded when Md Ehsan scored from inside the box after receiving a pass on the right from Zulhilmy Abd Majid, who did all the hard work by dribbling past three players to create space.

Muara Vella lacked support going forward, and their passing at times could only be described as aimless.

Amp Md Abd Rahman produced a fine save from point-blank to deny Md Saidy Abd Rahman in the 40th minute in what was Muara Vella's best chance to equalise before the break.

Muara Vella ended the half strongly by creating two good chances, the first when Abd Azim Zainal shot wide off the bar in the 43rd minute and the second when Sabtu Yahya had a half-volley which went inches wide of the right post two minutes later.

They failed to carry forward their bright play in the second half though, falling further behind after only three minutes of the restart.

Ahmad Zawawi had a goal-kick which was taken outside the area and Md Alikhan Hj Md Yakop's ensuing curling free-kick from the edge of the box made it 3-1, despite 10 Muara Vela players manning the wall.

Creating space after a one-two, Zulhilmy should have got his name on the scoresheet a minute later but shot wide despite being through on goal and only Ahmad Zawawi to beat.

Rosli had a golden opportunity to cut the gap in the 55th minute but his diving header failed to connect on a cross from the right.

Md Hamiduddin Hj Talip scored the game's best goal when his free-kick from inside his own half found the back of the net in the 64th minute. Yahya was booked for a late two-footed tackle on Ak Md Sukri and Md Hamiduddin's free-kick amazingly beat the clueless Ahmad Zawawi.

Rosli scored his second in the 70th minute after receiving a pass from Rosmi Merali on the left but Muara Vella were unable to capitalise on the strong spell they enjoyed after the goal.

Ak Md Sukri saw his shot from inside the box parried away by Ahmad Zawawi five minutes later but there was nothing the goalkeeper could do to keep out a speculative long-range attempt from Md Alikhan in the 83rd minute.

It was 6-2 two minutes later when Ak Md Sukri lobbed the ball over Ahmad Zawawi from inside the box to make up for his previous glaring miss.

(kata2 ani bukan rujukan utk dapat 3 org bini2 ah, dapat 3 points penuh!!) hehe, joke2 saja ah..hehe..so fight for 3 points per game!!!

MENGLAIT FC beat Kilanas FC 5-4 last night in their DSTGroup Brunei Premier League II match at the Balapan Track and Field of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex in Berakas.

Ak Md Sallehuddin Pg Sairfuddin was the hero bagging a hat-trick for Menglait FC to grab all three points.

Kurmin @Ridhwan Hj Bini opened the scoring for Kilanas FC controlling the ball with a good first touch in the area to score past Ak Muhd Mu'izzuddin Pg Ismail, the Menglait FC goalkeeper, in the ninth minute.

The joy was short-lived however with Md Khalid Mustapah levelling the scores for Menglait FC two minutes later with a well taken strike from outside the penalty area to put the ball past the Kilanas FC goalkeeper, Amp Md Abd Rahman Amp Hj Abd Kahar.

Ak Md Sallehuddin then put Menglait FC in front with his first goal of the night in the 25th minute putting the scores at 2-1.

Izzul Wazien Osman got the equaliser in the 35th minute when Menglait FC were a man down due to injury.

With the scores tied at 2-2 at halftime, Kilanas FC came out storming and they were rewarded in the 49th minute when the Menglait FC defenders couldn't clear the ball and then tripped one of their opponents in the box.

Mohd Razi Hj Lamit made no mistake and converted from the penalty spot to let Kilanas FC regain the lead.

Ak Md Sallehuddin got his second goal of the night in the 58th minute bringing the scores to 3-3 when he chipped the ball over Amp Md Abd Rahman.

Menglait FC grabbed the lead again through Ak Md Nurhikman Pg Rajid when he curled a free kick from the right side to beat the Kilanas FC goalkeeper in the 64th minute.

Ak Md Sallehudin completed his hat-trick in the 79th minute after another mistake by Amp Md Abd Rahman to give his team a two-goal cushion at 5-3.

Kilanas FC were then given a lifeline in the 86th minute when Kurmin got his second goal of the night when he was left unmarked inside the box to score past the Menglait FC goalkeeper.

Menglait FC defended desperately in the closing minutes of the game as Kilanas FC pushed forward in search of an equaliser. But it was not to be as Menglait FC held on for the victory.

"We came here ready to win and got the points. The players really gave it their best and showed good motivation. That helped us to win," said Wan Mazini Mohd Zelani, the assistant coach of Menglait FC.

"Kilanas FC gave us a good fight but well done to our players as they really did well tonight (Tuesday)," added Wan Mazini.

Today's games will pit league leaders QAF FC against AM Gunners at the Balapan Track and Field in BPL I action while Indera FC will take on Majra FC at the Berakas Sports Complex.

Both matches are scheduled to kick off at 8.15pm.
